Multihull Guide - To the World of Cruising Catamarans
& Trimarans |
This
is an extremely useable guide to not just multihull
techniques and information but also to the models
themselves, featuring layouts and profiles on many,
many multihull models. We are fortunate to have been
allowed to use some of the model information present
here in our Gallery. Kevin
Jeffrey and Chuck Kanter
have done a great job. |
| The
Cruising Multihull |
Chris
White's accessible approach will interest both
would-be and longtime owners of multihulls. Chapters
include thorough discussions of multihull design and
construction, stability, rigs, auxiliary power,
seamanship, and safety. The book also includes an
illustrated catalog of ready-to-sail multihulls. While
we don't necessarily agree with everything Chris has
to say, this is a "must read" book for the
serious multihull enthusiast. |
| Multihull
Cruising Fundamentals |
Rick
White, et al, have again given multihullers
what they need. The official text of the American
Sailing Association's Cruising Multihull Standard (CM)
Certification, this guide addresses everything
beginning-to-intermediate multihull cruisers need to
know to sail and charter these swift, versatile
vessels. Covering trailerable and cruising catamarans
and trimarans, it discusses such topics as systems,
draft, capsize prevention, turning radius,
maintenance, handling boats under sail or power,
docking and mooring, heavy weather and reefing. |
| Cruising
On More Than One Hull |
This book
will be a big help in how to compare, select and sail
catamarans and trimarans for cruising. Many find it's
unique design classification system helpful. Chuck
Kanter is well known in the multihull cruising
milieu for his personal ownership, cruising and
surveying of multihulls. |

Chapman
Piloting - Seamanship & Small Boat Handling (62nd) |
It
really is the bible! Written by Charles
F. Chapman, Chapman Piloting gives both
the new boater and seasoned pro what they need to
know. "The 62nd edition includes fully updated
sections on navigation with satellite technology,
procedures for emergencies, and maritime laws and
regulations. In addition to the thorough chapters on
boating basics, safety, the art of seamanship, waves
and weather, piloting and navigation, electronic
equipment, and the boating community, subjects are
wonderfully illustrated, cross-referenced, and
supplemented by a comprehensive glossary of boating
terms. Without question, Chapman Piloting remains a
standard text for boating schools and has long stood
as a ready and dependable first mate in wheelhouses of
powerboaters and sailboaters alike. --Byron Ricks
--This text refers to the hardcover edition of this
title." Read it, remember 10% of it, and you'll
be way ahead of most of the sailors out there. |
