Her History
Stray Cat III is a multiple award-winning design by Marc Lombard.
Built by Jeantot Marine in 1992, she has three Atlantic crossings
and has sailed throughout Europe. She has been in crewed charter
service in the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Florida, and New England.
Stray Cat underwent extensive refit and renovation during
2001-2004 that included new sails, bimini top, cockpit seating,
headliners throughout, lighting, granite surfaces in the galley,
salon, 2 forward heads, and aft cabin vanities. All four heads
were glassed then finished in Awlgrip and equipped with electric
toilets.
A new ceramic 3-burner stove top and microwave/convection
oven were installed in the galley to finish out her gourmet food
capabilities. A large double stainless steel sink with saltwater
pump, pure water system, and brushed stainless steel splash backs
were also fitted.
The salon configuration was changed to improve space and
walk through. The sole was replaced as were the dining table and
upholstery.
The cockpit floor was Awl gripped and sun screens were
zipper-fitted to the bimini. There were many more items and
projects that Captain Mark completed, but they were somewhat
routine or otherwise uninteresting to list here.
Many things were learned along the way - descriptive
adjectives for one, and that it's a good idea to double your
cost and time estimates. Mark figured one year and $40,000... but
it was three and $85,000.
Comfort and Safety
Stray Cat has the catamaran advantage of no heeling or rolling,
that means more comfort underway. Her shallow draft allows you to
experience those secluded beaches first hand. You won't believe
the interior space, its about the same as a 65' monohull.
